Maureen (or Coach Mo!) joined us back in August of 2022. Maureen came to us with lots of athletic experience. She swam competitively in middle and high school, continued to swim for fun in college, and more recently has worked out at Burn Bootcamp for seven years! Maureen really enjoys the great outdoors (as long as it’s not too cold!) by taking hikes, walking, going to the beach, and kayaking.
Maureen has been described as a caring, friendly, and compassionate person, with a hard work ethic and a good listening ear. Maureen has leaned into her strengths with her work here, and her past work experience. Maureen grew up and went to college in Long Island, New York and graduated with a degree in psychology. She was a case manager there for twelve years. She moved down to North Carolina in 2009 where she was a preschool teacher for eight years before joining us! Work transitions, her friendship with Lynnette, and seeing our fun and positive atmosphere was what drew Maureen to our facility. She visited us for a day and said she wanted in on the fun!
Think “Coach Mo” sounds like a lot of fun? Well, you’d be right! She is well-loved by her day camp kids and her co-workers alike. You can often find “Coach Mo” talking with the kids, coming up with new games to play with them, and engaging with them to keep our day camp experience excellent and safe. Maureen says that she enjoys getting to know new people, kids and parents alike, and getting to know her fellow staff members. Her younger workers often speak of her positive attitude and loving words. “Coach Mo” encourages everyone around her by saying, “Don’t say you can’t! Say you haven’t done it yet!”
We love you, Coach Mo! Thank you for loving us and our community!
